Eskişehir, which was preferred by many travelers in history, especially the Historical Wood Market District, which is included in the Seyahatname written by Evliya Çelebi, was the center of this city in ancient times and people lived here. Here's the story of it. One day, 2 different livers are hung around the wood market and around the badger brook, and the liver that is hung in the badger brook spoils early, that's when people begin to settle in the wood market area and thus the city is established.
These houses, which are mostly 2-storey and in some buildings half-floor even if not a full floor for the terrace, are called wood market houses. Ottoman architectural features can be seen in many buildings since they started to live in the settlement during the Ottoman Period. However, in the recent restoration works, it reminds of the old times with its first appearance but with some architectural remains was destroyed.
The living room and living room parts of these houses, which generally have a sink and kitchen on the ground floor, are usually on the upper floor. Since there were houses made of adobe and wood at that time, many houses are like this. These houses are called historical wood market houses. The region where it is located is called the Historical Wood Market Region.
